Description

• Work onsite at Arcadia’s HQ alongside entrepreneurs, researchers, and engineers to convert Arcadia’s scientific platform into new software products for company creation. • Work closely with the product team to ensure the product is user-friendly and meets the needs of scientist users through rapid iteration cycles. • Architect, develop, and maintain our internal product suite using standard web technologies to be scalable, performant and delightful to use. • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for the product, including bug fixes and feature enhancements. • Leverage computational biology, machine learning, and bioinformatics skills to enhance the data exploration capabilities of the product.

Requirements

• BA/BS in computer science, engineering, bioinformatics, mathematics, or a related field • Extensive experience (3+ years) in building production-level software for data exploration and visualization • Proficiency with JavaScript, React, and other web technologies • Proficiency with some backend language (we use Python with FastAPI) • Proficiency with relational databases like Postgres • Experience with environment management or containerization tools (Conda, Docker etc.) • Track record of taking new projects from idea to high quality technical product with a focus on delightful end-user experiences; previous startup experience a plus • Interest in / understanding of evolutionary and molecular biology (direct experience not required) • Hands-on experience working with complex and large datasets • Experience with software engineering practices (version control, CI/CD pipelines etc.) • DevOps experience (i.e. working with Terraform or CloudFormation for orchestrating deployments) is a big plus, but not a requirement • Is highly adaptable and able to start and stop various projects as well as pivot with the organization as it grows • Ability to move fast in an environment where things are sometimes loosely defined
