Description

• Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Box. • Build and expand Box's service mesh infrastructure. • Solve technical challenges in multi-cloud environments. • Architect and lead engineering efforts to implement a service mesh solution. • Collaborate with teams to optimize performance, scalability, and resilience. • Implement security practices within service mesh. • Drive platform vision and write design documents. • Create and manage CI/CD pipelines for service mesh components. • Participate in on-call rotations for owned services. • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of service mesh technologies such as Istio, LinkerD or any other Envoy based service mesh. • 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on distributed systems, cloud native applications, and microservices. • Well versed with Circuit Breaker, Traffic Routing, Service discovery patterns. • Larger-scale production operations experience, focusing on stability, scalability, and performance limits of web-services. • Hands-on experience with GCP or AWS in container orchestration using Kubernetes. • Understanding of operationalizing critical infrastructure components. • Proven track record of building tooling, automation, or services in multiple programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java, Ruby). • Well-versed in Linux systems and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, TLS, HTTP). • Enjoy troubleshooting in distributed Linux systems environments. • Technical expert who can provide guidance on best practices, coding standards, and complex technical issues. • Good oral and written communication skills for discussing complex subjects. • Passion for open source and staying up-to-date with the community.
