• This position reports to the Chief Operating & Chief Nursing Officers and has responsibility for Pre-operative process, PAT, Surgical, PACU, Anesthesia, Endoscopy, SPD, OR supply management and the Cardiovascular labs. • Will work in concert with the administration, directors and physicians in development and operations of services and in business development and physician recruitment. • Leads organization in achieving peri-operative services growth and achievement of advanced EBP standards of practice. • Provides administrative direction for development and evaluation of all nursing personnel, and maintains operational aspects of the patient care unit in collaboration with support services. • Contributes to nursing and the hospital through support of philosophy and objectives, educational and research efforts. • Accountable to assure that HCAHPS, patient, employee, and physicians satisfaction scores are all in acceptable ranges and improving. • Accountable for building and directing teams to improve core measures and other Joint Commission initiatives. • Assures department is Survey ready at all times, including nursing documentation, facility, and all National Patient Safety Goals.
• Five (5) years in peri-operative services with demonstrated development and leadership abilities. • More than five (5) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse. • Graduate of an approved/accredited School of Nursing or equivalent. • BSN required. • Master’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Management/MBA completed or in process. • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California. • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support. • PALS required for ED, Med/Surg and Peri-Operative Directors. • National Certification preferred: (i.e. N.A.C.O.G, CRN, CCRN). • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals. • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, staff and the general public. • Writes minutes for meetings in an ongoing and timely manner. • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical/clinical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. • Able to direct teams to improve scores and coach critical thinking skills. • Ability to manage all emergencies, a fast paced environment and handle multiple priorities at one time. • Must be capable of making decisions under pressure as well as appropriately managing the anger, fear, hostility and violence of others. • A good communicator and treats all staff in a fair and consistent manner. • Serves as a coach, mentor and role model for other staff members.
