Description
• Perform feasibility and requirements analysis working with various stakeholders to produce system level functional requirements, intersystem interfaces and performance metrics for test and evaluation • Implement mechanical and electrical system design and integration for payloads and other flight systems leveraging modern techniques (CAD Modeling, CNC, 3D printing, quick turn manufacturing services) • Develop and execute test plans which may include simulation-based, ground, and/or flight tests to validate development against defined requirements ensuring system functionality, performance, and safety • Ability to take ownership and drive projects/tasks to closure • Work with fellow engineers and technicians to improve design and manufacturability • Integrate feedback from flight operation teams to improve system performance and usability • Hands on R&D aircraft building and process optimization • Support in-field flight operations and demonstrations when necessary
Requirements
• 3+ years of CAD experience (Solidworks/Fusion 360) • 2+ Ardupilot experience • 3+ Experience working on UAS • Be able to share projects previously worked on which clearly demonstrate core competencies • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies/concept as necessary • Intermediate level ability to work with and around electronics (power, signal, soldering, crimping) • US citizen with the ability to obtain secret security clearance • Flexibility to travel if/when necessary to support on-going operations • Local to the Bay Area, commuting to Emeryville office required (CA) • Plus: FAA Part 107 certified • Model Airplane building/flying experience • Veteran
