Description

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices using best-in-class tools and technologies. • Lead the architectural decisions for backend systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. • Mentor and guide engineering teams in best practices for backend development and DevSecOps. • Integrate security into every stage of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring applications are secure by design. • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines, automating the deployment process while enforcing security checks and compliance standards. • Champion infrastructure as code (IaC) practices, utilizing tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation. • Collaborate to manage and maintain technical and infrastructure policies in compliance with SOC2, CCPA, GDPR, and other security frameworks. • Design and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, optimizing for cost, performance, and security. • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure the health and security of production environments. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between development, operations, and security. • Strong understanding of natural language processing (NLP), deep learning, and transformer models. • Experience with STT and TTS applications such as Deepgram and Elevenlabs. • Knowledge of model fine-tuning, training, and deploying large language models (LLMs) like GPT. • Work closely with executive leadership, product management, security teams, and other stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals. • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, security, agility and continuous improvement. • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. • Own engineering KPIs and goals in partnership with Technology and Executive leadership. • Monitor all systems for issues that need to be resolved to achieve technical excellence and collaborate on the technical vision and roadmap along with the CPTO. • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, particularly in the areas of backend engineering, DevSecOps, AI and AWS. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering teams, promoting automation, efficiency, and security enhancements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. • 8+ years of experience in backend engineering, with a focus on building scalable, high-performance applications. • 5+ years of experience in DevSecOps, including experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and cloud security. • Proven experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Cloudwatch and IAM. • Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Python. • Deep understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, relational and vector database design. • Expertise in DevSecOps tools and practices, including containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI), and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation). • Strong knowledge of security best practices, including encryption, key management, identity and access management (IAM), secure coding practices and common security frameworks. • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions. • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams. • Leadership abilities, with a track record of mentoring and guiding engineering teams.
