Description

• Design, build, and maintain backend web applications, APIs, platform services, and systems. • Responsible for scalability, security, and reliability of our systems. • Work with the product management team in the development cycle from start to finish — from scoping work to measuring project success and planning new iterations based on results. • Conduct code reviews, communicate thoughtfully and effectively with colleagues. • Provide thought leadership, mentorship, and guidance, and partner closely with other engineers on development best-practices, user facing features, API user experience, and platform services. • Balance development speed and quality, with a focus on real, deliverable results.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience writing software with a strong engineering background • Proficiency in front-end and back-end development using modern frameworks like React, Javascript, and Node.js (we use TypeScript, applications usually run on Next.js) • Experience building UIs using headless libraries, Tailwind for styling • Proficient with SQL, database design and management, and some experience with data processing & analysis • DevOps and CI/CD experience (AWS, Docker, serverless architecture, etc.) • Experience designing & maintaining backend services & systems, user-facing APIs at scale • Organized and self-sufficient, with prior startup experience preferred • Strong experience with web automation (Puppeteer, Selenium, etc) • Proven track record of building and scaling web applications in a production environment. • Familiarity with security best practices in web development and cloud environments. • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues across the stack. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. • Mentorship experience, guiding junior developers and contributing to team growth.
