• Develop and litigate state and federal cases • Engage in public education and advocacy campaigns • Provide technical assistance on immigration-related issues • Advocate on immigrants' rights issues in Kern County • Lead and manage litigation teams • Serve as a policy expert and advocate • Supervise staff attorneys and interns • Establish collaborative relationships with community partners • Conduct outreach, advocacy, and provide technical assistance • Devise and present 'know your rights' presentations • Organize and participate in community education events • Attend lobbying visits and provide testimony to governing bodies • Forge and maintain relationships with impacted communities, decision-makers, and lawmakers
• Minimum of 9 years of federal or state court litigation experience • Demonstrated commitment to civil and human rights, immigrants' rights, and racial justice • Excellent research, writing, analytic, and speaking skills • Ability to work in diverse coalitions and develop advocacy campaigns • Deep commitment to civil liberties and civil rights • Willingness to work occasional weekend and evening hours • Strong project and time management skills • Admitted to practice law in the state of California or willingness to take the California bar exam • Experience in immigration law or immigrants' rights is desired
