• Planning, leading, implementing, debugging Hardware (HW) and System designs • Lead interoperability testing between server/storage systems and modules (ie - SSD) • Help debug testbeds and HW related problems - internal, external, and JDM • Participation in all phases of the product development cycle including architecture, design, documentation, validation, and sustaining • Strong understanding of x86/AMD architecture and proven design track record • Solid understanding of Major Bus technology PCIe, UPI, Ethernet, DDR, NAND, Serial Buses (I2C, SPI, SVID, etc) • Solid understanding reviewing mixed signal designs and comfortable with High Speed Oscilloscopes, bus analyzers (PCIe logic analyzer experience a bonus) • Analysis and review of system-level mechanical, thermal, power, and signal integrity tradeoffs • Setting up and running stress tests including industry standard tools : PTU, Mprime, Iometer, LinPack, etc • Understanding of CPU subsystems qualifications including DDR memory, PCIe I/O cards, PCH chipsets, BMC, LOM, BIOS, and peripherals • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Customer, and JDM to introduce new storage systems • Perform failure and root cause analysis to support field issues, customer escalation, and continuous improvement • Use automation, machine learning, and AI to further enhance HW/System design and validation • Provide guidance and mentoring to other team members
• 5+ years in Hardware System design and development • B.S. Electrical or Computer Engineering (M.S. is a plus) • Experience working at enterprise system companies (storage/server a bonus) • Have done hardware designs and have x86/AMD knowledge. Ability to qualify hardware at the electrical, SI, protocol and functional levels • Strong experience with scripting languages (i.e. Python, BASH, etc) to use for automated HW qualification and regression testing • Ability to understand system design tradeoffs (Mechanical, Thermal, Power, SI) • Experience with SSD standards and compliance testing, ie PCI SIG, NVMe, etc • Work with diagnostics/test engineers by reviewing test plans to ensure proper coverage • Detail oriented, analytical, process savvy, and customer focused yet flexible and adaptable to business needs • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, technical development environment • Experience working in and leading cross-functional team • High level of teamwork and collaboration skills • Ability to operate in a fast-paced changing business environment • Strong verbal and written communication skills
