• Build and maintain infrastructure related to hardening systems against attacks against frontier AI models. • Identify and assess systematic risk, and translate them into actionable tasks for the organization. • Shape policies and procedures to embed security into product design, infrastructure, and employee practices. • Lead one of our growing security engineering teams to successfully deliver on its goals. • Develop and track metrics to ensure security objectives are being met. • Represent the security engineering team and build credibility for Anthropic's security posture. • Collaborate with product, research, and infrastructure teams to integrate secure-by-default into their workflows and processes. • Independently own and drive multiple workstreams; this includes all planning and execution as well as managing partnerships with other teams. • Establish and drive adoption of design and coding best practices within your team. • Define, evangelize, and drive security engineering best practices and improvements across organizational boundaries. • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Anthropic's engineering management team. • Manage and grow a team of engineers to deliver high-impact projects on schedule with high quality. • Coach, mentor, and provide career development guidance to your direct reports, helping them set and achieve their professional goals. • Partner with our recruiting team to attract, hire, and retain top security talent.
• Have 4-6 years of front line management experience. • Have a track record of leading productive security engineering teams. • Have hands-on software engineering experience as an IC prior to moving into management. • Have a deep understanding of security best practices, threat modeling, and risk assessment methodologies. • Have experience with AI/ML security, including adversarial attacks and defenses. • Familiarity with AI safety concepts and frameworks. • Have low ego and bring a high degree of empathy. • Have a passion for building diverse and inclusive teams. • Encourage a healthy work environment that's both supportive and challenging. • Be excited to help engineers develop new skills and advance in their careers. • Be clear and persuasive in writing and in person. • Lead by example, by setting the right context, and by helping your team do their best work.
