• Handle all phases of litigation involving public entities, including case strategy, discovery, pre-trial motions, trials, and appeals. • Conduct thorough legal research on relevant case law, statutes, and regulations affecting public entities. • Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements. • Represent public entities in court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and appellate arguments. • Prepare and present oral arguments in support of the public entity’s position. • Negotiate settlements on behalf of public entities, balancing legal risks with public interest considerations. • Draft and review settlement agreements to ensure legal sufficiency and alignment with public entity goals. • Collaborate with outside counsel when necessary, ensuring that legal strategies are consistent with the public entity’s objectives. • Manage and oversee outside counsel to ensure effective and efficient handling of litigation. • Advise public entities on compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Candidate must be licensed to practice in CA and good standing • Candidate must be living in California • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school • 4 - 6 years of Public Entity litigation • Experience representing public agencies in these types of matters is a plus.
