• Provide leadership in research portfolio and governance management • Oversee daily operations of the Research Department • Develop best practices for strategic planning and project management • Monitor and report on department goals • Establish and maintain an integrated project portfolio • Conduct regular portfolio reviews and recommend project adjustments • Develop, manage, and monitor the research budget • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies • Build relationships with key internal partners • Represent the Research Department in meetings • Mentor and develop a high-performing team • Foster a collaborative team culture • Implement development programs • Lead initiatives for innovation and continuous improvement
• Advanced degree (PhD, MD, MBA, or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or business discipline. • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in research operations, strategic planning, or a related role within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. • Demonstrated experience in leading large, cross-functional teams and managing complex projects and/or department/enterprise initiatives, and influencing without authority. • Ability to independently develop and execute strategic plans, with a proven track record of driving growth and innovation. • Deep understanding of research processes, project management, and operational excellence. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making. • Role based in SF with expectation to be onsite 2-3 days per week
